Facilities

David Pfieffer Racing has been operating out of Warwick Farm Racecourse for many years providing a top class yet relaxed environment to train thoroughbred race horses. Our barn has 40 boxes and the horses get full access to a pool, polo track, jump out shoot, practice barriers, schooling and jumps plus we have close proximity to the race course. Five tracks are on offer with the Course Proper, A grass, B grass, Pro Ride and Sand which allows versatility in the training methods and gives our horses the best possible chance to reach their full potential. Being in the heart of Sydney, we also have access to some of Australia’s premier tracks being Royal Randwick, Rosehill, Canterbury, Hawkesbury, Wyong and Kembla Grange for the use of barrier trials and races.

Pfieffer Racing has access to leading spelling properties within the Sydney basin including Wild Oaks (pre training and spelling), Whispering Pines (breaking in and spelling) and Bimbadeen Park (breaking in and spelling).

Wild Oaks has been tailored to meet every need of the pre training process. The aqua walker is perfect to give the horses a freshen up mid campaign and the 1600m grass running track and 600m slow sand track ensure the horses are a step ahead the whole way.

Whispering Pines is where the yearlings get their first taste of being a racehorse as they enjoy some one on one attention. Paul Blattman provides these services and is one of the leading breakers in Sydney having broken in Group 1 winners Pierro, Trapeze Artist and Samantha Miss.

We also use Bimbadeen Park which is run by eventing champions Shane and Niki Rose. Shane competed at Olympic level and played a pivotal role in Australia winning a silver medal after his ride on Lucky in the Cross Country. They have a round yard, a well maintained all weather gallop track, horse walkers and a jumps arena. He’s a true horseman and his record speaks for itself.

Pfieffer Racing also has access to Randwick Equine Clinic where we retain the services of James Whitfeld who has worked for the company since 1992 along with stints to South East Asia for the    Malaysian Racing Association. Today, Whitfeld is now a Randwick Equine Centre partner. He’s accustomed to Pfieffer’s training methods and sees the horses on a daily basis to ensure each and every horse reaches its full potential.

The most important part of training race horses is ensuring that they have a safe and stimulating place for their retirement. We have contacts in the show jumping, dressage, eventing and hacking pony clubs and are regularly contacted by horse enthusiasts looking to re home our stable stars. The NSW Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Trust also provides safe passage post racing and gives ex race horses the chance to embark on new careers.
