Chestnut Road to breakthrough at Randwick today

Chestnut Road is in race 2 with Christian Reith to ride from barrier 2. He's had his hoof on the till for a while now with a string of placing’s and some unlucky runs. This race looks perfect for him. Good early speed from Harry Hotspur and Role Model will suit him and the small field will mean that he isn't far off them at the top of the straight. Stepping up to 1600m at Randwick is a big plus. He's proven over ground and it's a tough mile at Randwick so we expect him to be the strongest at the end of the race.

Brilliant Meteor is in race 7 with James McDonald to ride from barrier 10. He is first up from a spell and strikes a pretty smart field. He is also having his first go in town so it looks like a tough ask for him. In saying that he has surprised us before and has won 3 of his 4 starts so he's hard to knock. He will improve when he steps up in ground and he also relishes wet tracks but is more than capable on dry.
