Brilliant Meteor bringing people together for a good cause

What a fantastic result at Newcastle last Saturday for first starter Brilliant Meteor.
There is a great story behind this horse and a group of his owners.
2 years ago a charity night was organised by one of our stable supporters Jason Watkins.
The charity was held for a young man Brett Ward, a 40 year old father of young children who had terminal brain cancer. The event held at Taren Point Bowling Club saw over 500 people come together to raise funds for his young family.
David Pfieffer Racing was told about the cause and immediately donated 5% of Brilliant Meteor to help raise funds. A further 15 friends of Brett Ward then bought another 5% to form a syndicate under the “Wardy” name to honour their mate and continue to keep the great memories of him together in a fun way.
Jason Watkins said “It was such an emotional time for so many people during Brett’s time but it brought so many people together as one and with the help of people like David Pfieffer & David Joice plus other stable clients, the night raised just under $90,000. This syndicate with Brilliant Meteor has brought together Brett’s friends for life and to see the horse win was very emotional for us. The anniversary of his passing was only recently and the day after the horse’s win was the annual bowls day in honouring Brett where we raise money for other charities. So to see the horse win the day before, we knew someone was looking down over him, even on a heavy 9”.
We are all very grateful to the stable for supporting us.
