HORSES AVAILABLE
FLYING SPUR ex NORTHERN EMERALD (by Fusaichi Pegasus)
Purchased from the draft of Widden Stud at the Magic Millions, this colt is an early running style of horse from unraced Fusaichi Pegasus mare Northern Emerald. We have a strong belief that Fusaichi Pegasus will be a future champion broodmare sire. Most yearlings we see out of Fusaichi Pegasus mares are of high quality. We must remember that he was an outstanding racehorse, having won 6 times and placed twice from only 9 starts including a memorable win in the Kentucky Derby G1. He is by one of the best stallions in the world, Mr Prospector and is out of a stakes placed Danzig mare Angel Fever, so his blood and genetics contain superior material that we believe will be passed on through his daughters.
His daughters have just started producing runners in the 2010/11 season and have produced Darci Be Good winner of the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle and placed 2nd in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes. Fu Peg mares have also produced Aeronautical winner of the Listed Rosebud Handicap and Euryale winner of the List Gibson Carmichael. So far Fu Peg mares have produced 17 winners of $1,028,118 in just one and a half seasons.
Northern Emerald is a half sister to Joku, winnner of 11 races and over $500,000 in prizemoney. He is a 3 time stakes winner and Group 3 placed. Northern Emerald is also a half sister to Palabrio, winner of 5 races and stakes placed. This is her first foal. She is owned by Goree Park and will be given every chance, going to some of the best stallions in the country.
We know the pedigree and performance on the dam's side in strong but this colt is also by Champion Sire, Flying Spur.
Flying Spur won a Golden Slipper himself, has produced a Golden Slipper winner in Forensics and was named Champion Sire in 2006-07. He has produced 775 individual winners and 84 stakes winners. He has recently produced colts that have won at Group 1 level and gone on to become stallions with Casino Prince, Magnus and Jet Spur now budding young sires.
Some may say he is getting too old so here are a few stats from the last 5 years that say otherwise.
07/08 - 9 stakeswinners
08/09 - 6 stakeswinners
09/10 - 7 stakeswinners
10/11 - 8 stakeswinners
11/12 - 4 stakeswinners and we're not even half way through the season yet.
He was purchased for $42,500 plus GST and is available for inspection at Whispering Pines, Oakdale. His x-rays were considered low risk (scale of low, moderate or high) by our vets. He is paid up for the $5,650,000 Magic Millions Race Series and will also be paid up for the BOBS scheme.
He was lot 721 at the Magic Millions if you would like to see more information through the Magic Millions website. www.magicmillions.com.au
HENNY HUGHES ex PARIS CHIC (BY XAAR)
Purchased yesterday from the Inglis Classic Sale, this colt is by Darley's new sire, Henny Hughes. His old progeny in Australia are only two year olds and he has already posted a winner and produced the stakes placed Lil Red Corvette, trained by David Hayes.
Henny Hughes has already posted 63 winners and 4 stakeswinners in the US where his oldest progeny are three year olds. He has also produced a stakeswinner in Japan, so the future looks bright for this dual Group 1 winning stallion. He had 10 starts in the US for 6 wins, 3 seconds and $1,124,820 in prizemoney. He won twice at Group 1 level over 1200m and 1400m. He placed 2nd in the Group 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile as two year old and was an outstanding sprinter up to 1400m. This is the kind of stallion that works in Australia. He was a speed horse who raced the best and beat the best. Now he is already producing winners and stakes class horses in his first crop of two year olds in Australia.
Our Colt is out of Paris Chic. She was a winner over 1400m at Randwick and is from the great Australian sprinting family of Hot As Hell, 9 wins including the Group 3 The Shorts and of Flaming Hot, 9 wins including the Listed Carrington Stakes and placed 2nd in the Group 2 San Domenico Stakes.
It's also the family of Craig's Dragon, Group 3 winner in Hong Kong and of Pekalan, winner of the Listed Belle Of The Turf.
All of the family are speed horses going back to Supaburn who is by Blazing Saddles. Blazing Saddles won 7 races as a two year old including the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes. Supaburn won 10 races from 900m to 1200m and was stakes placed. This speed has continued through the family to Paris Chic. This colt is her second foal with a two year old Danzero filly in the care of Manawanui's trainer, Ron Leemon. Paris Chic has another Henny Hughes colt at foot and is in foal to Time Thief.
Our colt was purchased for $40,000 no GST and is available for inspection at Whispering Pines, Oakdale. His x-rays were considered moderate risk (scale of low, moderate or high) by our vets. He is paid up for the $2,600,000 Inglis Race Series and will also be paid up for the BOBS scheme.
He was lot 20 at the Inglis Classic Sale if you would like more information through the Inglis website. www.inglis.com.au
Photos will be available soon but don't wait around. Give us a call and take the time to see our two colts at Whispering Pines. They won't last long at that price.
